It’s time to get physical, and for taking part in a fitness routine out of the house — finally!

Science tells us the more we spend in the great outdoors the better — for our health, body and soul, it’s important to be in nature as much as we can. It’s an important part of our fitness routines as well, to get out there and walk, bike, golf, play tennis and take in more of the sports that we love enjoying out of doors (lawn bowling, anyone?).

But we all also need a little protection from the elements. From SPF for our lips to better ways to hydrate our bodies to rolling away the post-power walk pain, we recommend adding a few feel-good products to your wellness arsenal to help you make the most of the summer months.

Reduce Friction

When practicing sports, repetitive movements expose the skin to a lot of friction and pressure, which can lead to blisters, calluses or irritations such as jogger’s nipple, athlete’s nodule and swimmer’s shoulder. These skin reactions can obviously affect your athletic performance, but can also cause persistent discomfort.

Specially designed to prevent and soothe chafing, Bariéderm Insulating Repairing Cream from the Uriage Dermatological Laboratories applied prior to active pursuits acts as a shield against minor chafing and irritation.

Exposure to the sun and wind, intense exhalations, sweat, even wearing our masks for prolonged periods … it’s easy to forget, but our lips are also hard at work during outdoor sports and activities. Protect them by choosing a lip balm that doubles as protection from the sun’s harmful rays.

Released in June, CeraVe‘s Itch Relief Moisturizing Lotion and Cream helps skin battle minor irritations, insect bites, scrapes and sunburn that come along with the season. While we’re all looking forward to (pysically distanced, but still ) summer days, heading to the cottage and spending time outdoors with our social bubbles — we need to come prepared with the right products to soothe, hydrate, and calm our summer skin.

Developed with dermatologists and enriched with their “now very well-known” three essential ceramides, CeraVe’s Itch Relief line is ideal for all skin types and was designed for the whole family. Formulated with one per cent pramoxine hydrochloride, their new lotion and cream provides steroid-free, fragrance-free and sulfate-free relief from itching.

Soothe and Massage

Are you finding that resuming your sporting activities is a wee bit painful? Typically occurring on average between 12 and 24 hours after exercise, muscle soreness is the result of a lack of practice or unusual stress on muscles and ligaments.
