For his first birthday since being appointed the title of Prince of Wales by King Charles following the Queen’s death last fall, the palace has released a new photo for William’s 41st birthday today.

The picture, which shows the Prince and King during coronation rehearsals, was posted on the the official Royal family Twitter account with the message, “Wishing the Prince of Wales a very happy birthday today!”

Prince William’s birthday comes days after he pledged to help tackle homelessness in Britain, saying he supports building social housing on the Duchy of Cornwall’s land. Over the weekend, the royal family also released an adorable new portrait for Father’s Day, showing William with his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Prince William Vows to Help End Homelessness, Releases New Portrait for Father’s Day

Britain’s Prince William, heir to the throne, has told the Sunday Times he wants to help end homelessness across the country and is planning to launch “a really big project” later this month.

In an interview, the prince told the newspaper that his and his wife’s Royal Foundation would be behind the project.

William, 40, is a long term supporter of charities aimed at ending homelessness, a cause which was close to his mother’s heart. As a young boy, Princess Diana took him to a homeless shelter and he is the patron of two charities focused on the issue.

He said the project would provide “living conditions up and down the country that improve people’s lives who need that first rung of the ladder”, according to the newspaper.

The prince also suggested he would be prepared to build social housing on his land as a trial to see if it worked before scaling it up, according to the newspaper.

“Social housing. You’ll see that when it’s ready. I’m no policy expert, but I push it where I can,” he is quoted by the Sunday Times as saying.

William took part in his father King Charles’s first official birthday parade earlier on Saturday, riding on horseback to inspect soldiers with other members of the royal family.

A New Photo of Prince William and His Children Released Ahead of Father’s Day

The Prince of Wales is seen looking relaxed as he smiles into the camera surrounded by his and wife Catherine, Princess of Wales’ three kids, with Prince George, nine, and Princess Charlotte, eight, beaming as they gaze up at him, while five-year-old Prince Louis has his arms wrapped around his dad’s neck in a loving embrace in the picture, which has been released by Kensington Palace.

The photograph, which was taken in Windsor by Millie Pilkington, features a subtle tribute to William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, because the family posed on a bench inscribed with the date 21 April 2016 — the late monarch’s 90th birthday.

The photoshoot may have taken place on the same day as the pictures that were released to mark the youngest prince’s birthday last month because he is wearing the same blue sweater and shirt as in those images.

The whole brood are wearing blue in the photo, with William and George both wearing jeans, with the heir to the throne in a plain light blue shirt and his son in a checked button-down, while Charlotte donned a pale blue daisy-print dress and white cardigan.

The release of the picture came hours after the Wales family turned out to mark King Charles’ official birthday at Trooping the Colour on Saturday.

While William joined his father on horseback, Catherine and the children rode in a carriage along with Queen Camilla.

Louis once again caught the eyes of spectators with his mischievous antics, including sticking his tongue out at the crowds and holding his nose due to the smell of horse manure.

Later in the day, as the family gathered on the Buckingham Palace balcony for a flypast, the young prince was pictured saluting and covering his ears.
