Camilla, Queen Consort, has tested positive for COVID-19 for a second time.

Buckingham Palace released a statement Monday saying she tested positive for the virus “after suffering the symptoms of a cold.”

The palace added that Her Majesty would be cancelling her engagements for the week and “sends her sincere apologies to those who had been due to attend them.”

According to The Telegraph, Camilla had appearances planned for Tuesday at the Elmhurst Ballet School in Edgbaston and a library in Telford, about three hours northwest of London..

This week, she was also due to meet representatives of Read Easy, a volunteer reading support group for adults.

A palace spokesperson said it is hoped a new date for the postponed events can be found soon.

Camilla is all too familiar with how a COVID-19 diagnosis can wreak havoc on a busy schedule. Last year, even when she was on the mend from her first go around with the virus, a lingering cough would force her to cancel a visit to the Cheltenham Festival, where she was due to present a trophy at the horse racing event.

This is far from the Royal Family’s first brush with COVID-19.

Last February, the late Queen Elizabeth contracted the virus as King Charles, then Prince Charles, was coming out of isolation from his second bout with the illness. Meanwhile, Camilla had her first stint with the virus just a week before.

Prince William contracted the virus in April 2020, but decided not to make it public at the time. He revealed the news seven months later.

“There were important things going on and I didn’t want to worry anyone,” he reportedly told someone at an engagement.

Like the rest of the world, the monarchy seems to have grown accustomed to the new normal, which now includes, for some, several bouts with the virus.

Where Charles’ first positive test in April 2020 was announced with a video message, today a quiet statement suffices.
